Warsaw, Poland, 10 July 2026. Orbital Matter has received €500,000 from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Pre-Accelerator to build solar arrays in space for megawatt-class satellites. Orbital Matter was selected competitively under the EIC, Europe's flagship innovation programme.
This is the next step after the company flew its technology demonstration in orbit earlier this week. Now the work is to turn it into a product, and the EIC is backing both the development and the commercialization.
Megawatt-class satellites, the constellations and orbital data centers coming next, need far more power than folded solar arrays can deliver. Orbital Matter builds the array structure directly in orbit rather than folding it on Earth, so power is no longer limited by what fits inside a rocket.
